Return to In-Person Learning Plan
Dear SEC Family,
The health and well-being of our students and staff are among the highest priorities of our district. Given rising concerns about the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19), we wanted to share the following updates.
Stockton Educational Center (SEC) is working closely with the San Joaquin County Health Department and the County Office of Education to monitor the coronavirus situation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also issued new travel warnings. Additional details about these warnings are at the CDC website.
According to the California Department of Public Health, the CDC has confirmed 10 cases of Coronavirus in California through lab testing as of February 25, 2020. Approximately 200 persons have been tested to date.
The CDC also recently announced that the Coronavirus may begin spreading in communities in the United States, and Americans should begin preparations. This is why we are working with county school and health officials to review protocols for schools in the event that Coronavirus spreads in San Joaquin County.
We will share more information as our preparations advance. In the meantime, current information about the Coronavirus is available on the CDC, http://www.sjcphs.org/, and the http://www.stocktonusd.net websites.
In our school we have continued to be vigilant in cleaning the common areas of our school campuses such as bathrooms, water faucets, classrooms, playground equipment, and cafeteria or multi-purpose rooms to minimize the spread of germs.

We also provide our staff and students with regular reminders about staying home when sick and following the sound hygiene and health practices listed below:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Practice proper hygiene etiquette by coughing or sneezing into a tissue, sleeve, or the crook of the arm, NOT into the hands. Throw the used tissue into the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Individuals with chronic health issues and/or individuals experiencing severe symptoms should be evaluated by a medical professional.
- Get vaccinated every year.
We will continue to monitor the situation and inform you promptly should we receive any additional guidance from local experts. If you have questions about these topics, please contact us. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
Sincerely,
Harry Brown Jr.
